Dr. Kim mainly uses hyaluronic acid fillers in the nose, and the best candidates have a subtle contour irregularity. A common example is a patient who has had rhinoplasty and has a very subtle irregularity that filler can adjust finely. Other examples are a low radix, a subtle dorsal hump and subtle tip support.
Nonsurgical rhinoplasty is not a substitute for surgical rhinoplasty. Results are subtle, and the treatment is kept conservative. Filler adds volume in a subtle and diffuse way. The skin and soft tissue envelope of the nose is thick, and hyaluronic acid is a gel without the stiffness to project the nose or create definition. Filler also cannot make the nose smaller, since it only adds volume. Images on social media can be misleading, so expectations are set at the consultation.

The nose does not move with expression, and in Dr. Kim's experience filler in the nose can last much longer. After rhinoplasty, a single treatment of a small contour irregularity may last for many years, so patients are advised not to expect treatment every 6 to 18 months.
The nose is one of the higher-risk areas for filler. Complications include skin loss and, extremely rarely, blindness, which has been reported when filler enters a blood vessel. Detailed knowledge of the anatomy of the nasal blood vessels is essential. Over-treatment may increase the risk, so Dr. Kim keeps treatment conservative, and hyaluronidase, which reverses hyaluronic acid filler, is kept on hand.
